Yurok Chief Justice Abby Abinanti interviewed MMIWG2

Yurok Chief Justice Abby Abinanti was interviewed for this NBC story about a recent report commissioned by the Yurok Tribal Court on missing and murdered indigenous women, girls and two-spirit people. The Tribal Court is working with Sovereign Bodies Institute to develop the first MMIWG2 database in California. The To’ Kee Skuy’ Soo Ney-Wo-Chek’ (I will see you again in a good way) Project also aims to establish a more effective system of investigation surrounding MMIWG2 cases.

A new report documents more than 2,300 missing Native American women and girls in the U.S., underscoring the reasons behind the lack of awareness and scrutiny in these cases.
