NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT the Yurok Tribe will hold three public hearings to accept comments from Yurok Tribal members on the following draft legislation:

Yurok Tribe Hemp Ordinance: Amending the existing ordinance to maintain jurisdictional authority over hemp on the Yurok Reservation

Yurok Tribe Air Quality Ordinance and Smoke Management Plan: Amending the existing ordinance and plan to add a cultural burn air quality permit, including a definition of “cultural fire practitioner;” input is especially requested for this definition.

The Yurok Tribal Council has referred to the above draft legislation to public hearing in accordance with the Yurok Tribal Public Hearing Ordinance. Public hearings are scheduled for:

Hard copies of the draft ordinance will be available at the public hearings, at Tribal offices, and at www.yuroktribe.org/public-comment. You can also get a digital or hard copy by calling (855) 559-8765 ext. 1360 or emailing publiccomment@yuroktribe.nsn.us.
REQUEST FOR COMMENTS
The Yurok Tribe is interested in receiving comments from members of the Yurok Tribe and Yurok Reservation community regarding all aspects of the legislation. Oral comments can be made during the public hearing. Comments may also be submitted in writing. All comments must be received by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 6, 2026.
Comment letters may be submitted by email at publiccomment@yuroktribe.nsn.us, by mail addressed to: Public Comment, Yurok Tribe Office of the Tribal Attorney, P.O. Box 1027, Klamath, CA 95548. Please indicate in your comment the draft legislation and specific section, if any, to which the comment is directed. For example, “Comment Letter—Hemp or Air Quality Ordinance”
