Environmental Response

The Pollution Prevention Division (PPD) has developed an Environmental Response Program with funding from USEPA. All YTEP staff recieve HAZWOPER certification and are trained to respond and contain hazardous waste and accidental spills, leaks of releases of contaminants on the Yurok Reservation. PPD staff take the lead in investigating incidents and conducting appropriate environmental response in coordination with Yurok Public Safety, Yurok Emergency Operations Specialist, Humboldt and Del Norte Counties, and other governmental entities for the Yurok Reservation and the Lower Klamath River.

To report a spill or accidental release, contact Ray Martell or Environmental Director, Kathleen Sloan.
