Transportation Program

Programs:

Indian Reservation Roads Program

The Indian Reservation Roads Program addresses transportation needs of tribes by providing funds for planning, designing, construction, and maintenance activities. The program is jointly administered by the Federal Highway Administration's Federals Lands Highway Office and the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) in accordance with an interagency agreement. Roads are placed on a tribal inventory in order to designate routes available for funds. The Bald Hills Road project is the largest project on the Tribal Inventory.


Yurok Tribe Transit Service

The Yurok Tribe partners with the Hoopa Tribe and KTNET to provide transit service. Transit service operates from Willow Creek to Weitchpec and Wautec Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Transit service operates from Willow Creek to Weitchpec, Wautec, and Orleans on Monday and Friday. In Willow Creek you can connect with Humboldt Transit Authority every week day and with Trinity Transit service Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Please see attached schedule for more information. Yurok Scenic Byways Program

The Yurok Scenic Byways Program (YSBP) is a new program aimed at keeping the Yurok Tribe and surrounding tribes' at the forefront of interpretive activities on the routes within or near the Yurok Ancestral Territory (YAT).


Yurok Park Transit Service Feasibility Study
(Paul S. Sarbanes "Transit in the Parks" Grant)

The Yurok Park Transit Service Feasibility Study is researching ways that visitors to Redwood National and State Parks can use transit including land and river transportation.

Trails Master Plan
(2011 Environmental Justice grant)

The Trails Master Plan will be the foundation for the tribe to develop formal standards for maintenance of existing trails and building new ones. This plan would also be a way for the Tribe to construct an evacuation strategy for emergency purposes.
