Land Use Planning
Programs
Yurok Land Use Plan: The Yurok Land Use Plan describes the Tribe’s vision for the future of the Yurok Reservation.
The goals of the Yurok Land Use Plan are to:
• Identify features and resource areas that need to be protected or improved
-
• Identify priorities and projects for long range planning, i.e., parks, schools, etc.
-
• List recommendations for general zoning areas
Public Meetings
Public Meetings are essential to the Land Use Plan and describing the Tribe’s vision for the future.
The first public meeting was March 14, 2011 for the Klamath Area.
Public Meetings will begin in July and continue through the summer of 2011 for Weitchpec and Pecwan communities.
Integrated Resource Management Plan: The Bureau of Indian Affairs IRMP program to the Yurok Tribe in 2008 began the initiative to consolidate the Tribe’s resource information into the Geographic Information System for a comprehensive resource for Tribal Departments and Tribal Council.
Addressing Project: Provide addresses for houses on the Yurok Reservation so that emergency services can respond to 9-1-1 calls in a timely manner. Please contact Nicole Wright at (707) 482-1366 to obtain a physical address for your residence on the upper Yurok Reservation.
